School-Wide Expectations and PBIS

PBIS School-Wide Expectations

We believe a strong partnership between the school and families is important. With complete understanding and cooperation between the two, we can work together in the best interest of your child. As part of our schoolwide discipline plan, students will be held accountable for not following school expectations, and they will be acknowledged for demonstrating positive behaviors. Please assist us by helping your child understand behavior is a choice.

This year we will be using PBIS Rewards and more information will come on this program.

4th Offense

Teacher states rule and reason.

Student receives conduct mark, phone call home, and MDR.

Student receives an MDR and recess detention, and the parent is contacted by the teacher.

Parent signs the MDR and returns it to school.

4 MDRs = a major referral

MDRs accumulate during the school year. At the start of the second semester, the MDR count will start over.

Some behaviors warrant automatic major discipline referrals.

SMP School board has a new Vaping Policy and Zero Tolerance Policy. More information on these policies can be found here /Page/9201

When a student receives a major discipline referral, each referral will result in loss of privileges, recess detention, Saturday detention, or suspension. All discipline matters are left to the discretion of administration. Administrators have the authority and duty to assign disciplinary consequences for misbehaviors according to the St. Mary Parish Code of Conduct. This year ISSP will be held on our own campus here at Hattie A. Watts with guidelines and rules in place.
