SCHOOL CEREMONIES, CLUBS, HONORS, ETC
Honor Roll and Principal’s List
1st-5th grade students are eligible. A “D”, “F”, “N”, or “U” in any subject areas disqualifies a student from receiving Honor Roll and Principal’s List.
- Principal’s List: students who achieve and maintain a 4.0 average (all A’s) for the 9 weeks.
- Honor Roll: students who earn and maintain at least a 3.0 average (“B”) for the 9 weeks.
Honor Roll:
- A 3.0-3.9 average for 1st-4th graders
- Consists of students who earn at least a 3.0 “B” average for the nine weeks
- Certificate presented to the student
Principal’s List:
- 4.0 grade point average for 1st-4th graders
- Consists of students who earn a 4.0 “A” average for the nine weeks.
- Certificate presented to the student
- Jean pass for the student to use on a designated day
Bringing Up Grades (BUG)
- 1st -4th graders for the second and third nine weeks grading periods
- Each homeroom teacher chooses two students who have shown academic growth by bringing up his or her grades.
- Certificate presented by the Kiwanis Club of East St. Mary
4th Grade Student of the Year
- A fourth-grade student will be chosen for this award and must have a qualifying GPA of 3.2 for first, second, and third grade.
- Grades and LEAP scores will be looked at and reviewed.
- Behavior, attitude, work performance, and character play a part.
- Teachers will have a part in the decision-making process.
Student of the Month
This year we will choose a student of the month from each grade level based on the following criteria.
- Each teacher in each grade level will be assigned a month in the year to choose a student of the month.
- Teachers will consider the following- behavior, work performance, attitude, grades, and character.
- A student does not have to be an Honor Roll student to get this award. We want students that set good examples of what a Wee Jack should do in school to be successful.
End of the Year Ceremonies
- Prekindergarten teachers will plan an end of the year ceremony and details will go out in May. Prekindergarten graduation will be on May 16th.
- Kindergarten teachers will plan an end of the year ceremony and details will go out in May. Kindergarten graduation will be on May 16th.
- 1st- 4th Grade is usually held the last week of school and more details will be sent out in May.
Clubs and Organizations
- 4-H is a service-based club which allows students to build skills that enable them to become leaders. The club is open to all 4th grade students. Requirements include club dues set by the Parish agency, participation in one 45-minute lesson per month, and participation in the yearly Zoo-to-Boo Parish activities held the last week of October. Optional activities include entering items in the annual 4-H Fair, participation in food drives, and other community service efforts.
