Arrival Procedures/Dismissal Procedures
No student should be dropped off before 7:30 AM. No one will be on duty to monitor student behavior. Arrival and dismissal procedures are in place to ensure the safety of all our students. Parents, please review and follow all arrival and dismissal procedures set by the school.
Bus Riders
• Students are to only ride their assigned bus and should be at the bus stop at least 10 minutes prior to their scheduled pick-up time.
• Any changes in address need to be reported to the office ASAP and a bus change or change of address form will need to be completed.
• Students are not to ride a different bus unless there is documentation signed by a guardian, principal, and bus driver on file.
• Students must obey the rules of the bus driver and keep the bus clean.
• Students must stay seated and always keep their arms and head inside of the bus.
• Students must not throw anything out of the windows.
• Students must obtain permission from the bus driver to open windows.
• Students are not allowed to stand or get out of their seats while the bus is in motion. Stay seated at all times.
• Students will arrive at Hattie Watts where they will be escorted down the first-grade hallway and on to their designated morning spots.
Car Riders
• Arrival time is 7:30 and dismissal is 3:05. Students are not to be dropped off to wait in the office.
• In the mornings students can be dropped off on Park Street or Taft Street no matter their grade.
• Parents are to pick up their child on the designated spot assigned either Taft Street or Park Street. Car riders are NOT to be picked up or dropped off in front of school for any reason accept checking your child in or out.
• Parents are to place their signs that include the child’s name on their windshields daily.
• PreK, K, and 1st grade car riders will be picked up on Park Street. This is also the sibling side- older siblings come to meet the younger ones. If you have children in both age groups, please have the older one meet the younger one by the cafeteria. PreK dismissal begins a few minutes earlier than the rest of the grades, so if you do not have a prekindergarten student but you are in the front of the line you may be asked to come back around.
• 2nd, 3rd, and 4th graders will be picked up on Taft Street. Students will not be allowed to walk to parking lots around the school to meet you. Please get in the car line and follow protocol which will ensure the safety of our students.
Walkers and Bike Riders
• Walkers are not to arrive to school until at least 7:30.
• Walkers will be released after car riders.
• K- 4th grade students will be escorted to the crossing guards on their side. If you are walking to meet your child, please meet him or her across the street in the parking lot.
• PreK students are to be picked up at the gate between the kindergarten and fourth grade wing. PreK students will not be allowed to walk home alone. Parents must be present to walk them home.
• PJHS students are dismissed at 2:30 and will not be allowed to pick up their siblings until the designated times. Please make sure they follow the dismissal guidelines mentioned in this section.
All car/bus riders will be dismissed at 3:05. Bikers and walkers will be dismissed at 3:07. Please adhere to the dismissal procedures.
