  • Seating is limited and must be reserved through email only.
  • Must pass a background check.
  • Fingerprinting fee is $54.50 - fee reimbursed after completing at least 4-full days of sub work.
  • Retired teachers, paras, and current substitutes are not required to attend.
  • Must bring a physical copy of driver’s license/photo id, social security card, and highest level of education diploma/transcript.

Flannel Day Dress Down

PTO is hosting a Flannel Day dress down. Students can wear a flannel shirt and Jeans for $2 on Thursday November 13. 

School appropriate jeans only (No leggings or ripped/torn jeans)

Fall Fest Donations

Fall Fest donations per grade Level are due Tuesday November 18th unless noted otherwise.

Donations are as followed: 

Kindergarten: Store Bought sugar cookies  (Please send Monday November 17th)

First Grade: Paper Plates or napkins

Second Grade: Store Bought Cupcakes (Please send Monday November 17th)

Third Grade: 2-Liter Drinks

Fourth Grade: 1 box of Hug Juice

 

Thank you for making the festival a special event for all.

Fall Fest

Fall Fest will be Thursday November 20th for Kindergarten to 4th grade. Cost is : $5 for games only or $10 for games, pizza, and juice. Please complete the form by Monday November 17th. 

CDL Classes Offered: Dec. 1-5, 2025

This is a great opportunity to obtain a Commercial Driver's License and join the SMP team as a bus driver.

We are currently accepting parent/guardian applications for membership on the Special Education Advisory Council.

Berwick Jr. High Assistant Principal - Stephanie Gautreaux

St. Mary Parish Public Schools is proud to announce the appointment of Mrs. Stephanie Gautreaux as the Assistant Principal of Berwick Junior High School.
Mrs. Gautreaux brings a strong professional background and proven leadership to her new role. She began her educational career in 1997 as an English and Science teacher in Lafourche Parish.

Over the years, she has served as a Middle and High School Science teacher, Academic Success Coordinator, and ACT tutor—most of that service within St. Mary Parish.
In 2007, she earned her Master’s in Administration and Supervision from Nicholls State University. Her leadership journey continued in Lafayette Parish, where she served as assistant principal at Edgar Martin Middle School beginning in 2017 and at Youngsville Middle School starting in 2021. Throughout her career, Mrs. Gautreaux has demonstrated a strong commitment to academic success, student advocacy, curriculum development, and instructional leadership. She shared, “I am excited about the opportunity to bring my leadership skills, deep curriculum knowledge, and student-centered mindset to the St. Mary Parish School System. I welcome the chance to contribute to the district’s academic goals and serve as a collaborative partner in advancing student achievement.”

Pre-K/Interventions Specialist Announced - Ingrid Cummings

St. Mary Parish Public Schools is proud to announce the appointment of Mrs. Ingrid Cummings as PreK/Interventions Specialist.


Mrs. Cummings brings extensive knowledge and a strong track record of supporting instructional growth and student development.

She is recognized for her commitment to coaching and support cycles that strengthen teaching practices and improve learning outcomes. A passionate educator, Mrs. Cummings earned her Master of Arts in Teaching in Elementary Education in 2017.


Mrs. Cummings began her educational journey in 2008 at Raintree Elementary School as an Intervention Tutor and Fast ForWord Lab Proctor. Since then, she has served in several key roles, including classroom teacher, Steve Carter Literacy Tutor, SMPPS Online Teacher, and most recently, Curriculum Facilitator at J. B. Maitland Elementary School.


“I am eager to contribute to the district’s mission by ensuring that all students – especially our youngest and most vulnerable – receive the support they need to thrive,” said Mrs. Cummings. “I am ready to do the work!”

ELA Secondary Specialist Announced

We are proud to announce the appointment of Mrs. Dwyla Jones as the new English Language Arts (ELA) Secondary Specialist.


Mrs. Jones brings a wealth of experience and a passion for student-centered learning to the position. She holds a Master’s Degree in Educational Leadership from Louisiana State University, Shreveport, and began her career in 2006 as an elementary teacher at M. E. Norman Elementary.

Most recently, Mrs. Jones has served as Assistant Principal at Berwick Junior High School since 2022. During her tenure, she has been instrumental in leading middle school professional learning communities, focusing on best instructional practices and effective coaching cycles. Her leadership has been characterized by a collaborative approach and a strong commitment to instructional excellence.
“I am particularly drawn to this role because of its focus on collaboration, curriculum support, and continuous improvement,” said Mrs. Jones. “I am excited about the opportunity to contribute to the district’s mission and support ELA educators in delivering impactful instruction.”

Human Resources Manager Appointed: Alicia Morris

St. Mary Parish Public Schools is pleased to announce the appointment of Mrs. Alicia Morris as Human Resource Manager.


Mrs. Morris brings a wealth of experience and dedication to the role. She holds a Bachelor of Science in Human Resource Management and is a certified public notary.

Since joining the district in 2014, she has steadily advanced through a variety of roles, beginning as a Pre-K Paraprofessional, then serving as a Clerk Typist II, and most recently as Human Resource Administrative Assistant for the past four years. In her previous role, Mrs. Morris played a key part in maintaining teacher certifications, managing personnel processes including new hires, transfers, and promotions, and supporting the administration of HR systems.


Reflecting on her new position, Mrs. Morris stated, “I bring a strong understanding of school operations, state certification processes, and human resources best practices that align perfectly with the goals and responsibilities of this role and my commitment to St. Mary Parish Schools.”

LaGrange Elementary Dean of Students Appointed: Sarah Olivier

St. Mary Parish Public Schools is pleased to announce the appointment of Mrs. Sarah Olivier as Dean of Students at LaGrange Elementary.

Mrs. Olivier holds a Master’s Degree in Educational Leadership from the University of Louisiana Lafayette and is currently pursuing a Doctorate Degree in Educational Leadership. She has had an extensive career in education, having taught middle and high school English Language Arts (ELA), served as a District Literacy Coach, and worked as an Elementary Master Teacher. In this role, she supported a school-wide literacy initiative focused on the science of reading. Her most recent position was as the Secondary ELA Specialist for St. Mary Parish Public Schools.

“I believe in fostering an environment where educators are supported and empowered to grow in their practice, which ultimately benefits our students,” said Mrs. Olivier. “Together, we will continue to build upon the strengths of our staff and provide a nurturing, challenging environment for all students to excel.”

Raintree Elementary Assistant Principal Appointed: Kendra Thomas

St. Mary Parish Public Schools is pleased to announce the appointment of Mrs. Kendra Thomas as the new Assistant Principal at Raintree Elementary School.

Mrs. Thomas has been a dedicated member of St. Mary Parish for 22 years. Over the course of her career, she has served as an elementary teacher, librarian, and most recently, as the Dean of Students at LaGrange Elementary. Mrs. Thomas holds a Master’s Degree in Educational Leadership from the University of Louisiana at Lafayette and has completed her +30 to become a Reading Specialist at Nicholls State University.

Additionally, Mrs. Thomas has recently completed the 2024-2025 Louisiana Department of Education’s Aspiring Principalship Fellowship, a program designed to equip aspiring school leaders with the essential knowledge and skills to effectively support both students and teachers.

“I approach leadership through the lens of servant leadership—focusing on the needs of others and empowering those around me to succeed,” said Mrs. Thomas. “I look forward to continuing to grow in my profession and supporting the needs of St. Mary Parish. I believe that all students can learn and grow when given the opportunity.

Community Event - St. Mary Heat FC Soccer

It’s that time of year again! Soccer registration is now open for the Fall 2025 recreational soccer league (Ages 3-15). Registration will be open May 4th until July 20th.

Federal Program Liaison Appointed: Christina Harrison

St. Mary Parish Public Schools is pleased to announce the appointment of Mrs. Christina Harrison as Federal Program Liaison.

Mrs. Harrison brings a wealth of experience and qualifications to the position. She holds a Bachelor of Arts in Elementary Education (Grades 1–8) and Mild/Moderate Special Education (Grades 1–12), earned in 2001. She later obtained a Master’s in Educational Leadership in 2016 and holds additional certifications as an Intervention Content Leader, PreK–3 educator, and English as a Second Language (ESL) instructor.

Mrs. Harrison began her teaching career at Bayou Vista Elementary in 2001. Over the years, she has served in multiple instructional and leadership roles, including teacher, interventionist, curriculum facilitator, Title III Specialist, and most recently, Elementary Instructional Specialist. Her extensive experience in federal programming, particularly in PreK and ESL education, will serve as a tremendous asset in her new role.

“My work managing Title III and Immigrant budgets, preparing compliance reports, and supporting Title I schools has provided me with valuable insight into federal programs and spending,” said Mrs. Harrison. “More importantly, I have witnessed how these funds can directly enhance instructional quality when strategically aligned to student needs.”

Director of Maintenance Announced: William Regard

St. Mary Parish Public Schools is pleased to announce the appointment of Mr. William Regard as the new Director of Maintenance. He will be replacing Mr. Brad Wiese, who recently announced his upcoming retirement.

Mr. Regard is a proud graduate of the Marine Military Academy in Harlingen, Texas, and a veteran of the U.S. Military. After serving his country, he returned to his hometown and began working in the oil and gas industry. He went on to earn a Bachelor of Science in Secondary Education from the University of Louisiana at Lafayette in 2003, and a Master’s degree in Educational Leadership from the University of Texas at Arlington in 2012.

He has served as a social studies and career and technical education teacher in Iberia Parish where he also held leadership roles as Assistant Principal at Westgate High School and Supervisor of Transportation. Most recently, he served as Director of Operations for Food Services in Lafayette Parish.

Mr. Regard is excited to tackle the challenges of his new role. His experience managing large systems while supporting employees, practices, and services has been one of his greatest strengths. He stated, “My goal is to remain focused on fostering collaboration, effective communication, and implementing innovative solutions to challenges that arise.”

SUN Bucks: Summer Nutrition Support for Kids

SUN Bucks provides a one-time $120 benefit to help families buy groceries for each eligible school-aged child during summer break.

Most children will be automatically enrolled if they received SNAP, FITAP, KCSP, or income-based Medicaid between July 2024 and August 2025, or if they attend a school offering free or reduced-price meals through the National School Lunch or Breakfast Program.

Children who attend Community Eligibility Provision (CEP) schools will need to apply once the application becomes available this spring. Benefits will be distributed in mid-May, loaded onto existing EBT cards, or mailed on new cards in plain envelopes. Families should ensure their mailing address is current, and keep their child’s EBT card for future use.

Children and Nutrition, Inc. is looking for babysitters that qualify for reimbursement in the following parishes: Acadia, Evangeline, Iberia, Jeff Davis, Lafayette, St Landry, St Martin, St Mary, and Vermilion.

 

We, Children and Nutrition, Inc., reimburse you (paid money) for the food that you serve to the children you babysit; you must babysit at least one non-resident child. Grandparents may also qualify. This program is not limited to low-income homes. Anyone who baby-sits children in their home may qualify.

Sample Payment

  • Sample Payment for Lunch, Pm Snack, and Supper
  • Sample Month: July 2024
  • 21 days X 6 children = 126 meals
  • 126 Lunches x $3.15 = $396.90
  • 126 PM Snacks x $0.93 = $117.18
  • 126 Suppers x $3.15 = $396.90

Elementary and middle schools ONLY will have Parent-Teacher Conferences on Friday, March 21, 2025. Students will not have school that day.
